The Specs Howard School of Media Arts is offering a $1,500 scholarship toward tuition for any of the three programs offered at the Specs Howard School (Broadcast Media Arts, Digital Media Arts or Graphic Design). This scholarship is being offered to individuals who have been negatively impacted by the onset of the COVID-19 virus.
The following are the terms and eligibility requirements for the scholarship:
- Students must submit a written essay explaining the negative impact that COVID-19 has had on their lives. This can be anything that has changed the applicant’s life, either professionally or personally.
- Recipients will be required to meet the Specs Howard School standard entrance requirements or the scholarship will be invalid.
- Recipients must start in a Specs Howard School program between September 1, 2020 and December 31, 2020.
- The Specs Howard COVID-19 Impact Scholarship is valued at $1,500 and is for tuition only. The scholarship has no redeemable cash value and cannot be sold, transferred or applied to any other costs. The scholarship funds will be credited incrementally to the student’s account at the end of each of the three semesters within the program. Each increment will equal one-third of the total value of the scholarship. Any interruption of training, change of program or withdrawal may result in cancellation of the scholarship award. The student also understands that a change of status may impact eligibility.
- Recipients are subject to all policies and procedures published in the Specs Howard School catalog and Student Handbook, including, but not limited to, grades, attendance and behavior.
- Recipients of this scholarship are not eligible for any other Specs Howard scholarship.
- This scholarship applies only to the recipient’s first-class start. Should the recipient make the decision to transfer to another class for any reason, this scholarship will no longer apply.
- This scholarship is unavailable to currently attending, transfer or reinstated students. Recipients will receive written documentation from the Specs Howard School acknowledging scholarship approval.
A limited number of these scholarships will be available in 2020, and will be awarded on a first- come, first-served basis. All scholarships must be approved by the school no later than the first day of class.
